ATHLETICS

I have been running competitively for 9 years. I started running cross country when I was in 4th grade and I started running track and field in 8th grade. I have loved running ever since and it has become a huge part of who I am.

Not even a global pandemic or an injury could stop me from running. During Covid 19, there were many restrictions in my school as to what races we were allowed to run and when. My team and I “masked up” and made almost a whole season possible that year, despite the many obstacles we faced. Another set back I've had has been my injuries. During my junior year, I had achilles and peroneal tendonitis which did not allow me to compete in several races. During this time, my role on my team changed from captain to “assistant coach” and I continued to travel throughout all of Florida with my team and attend all of their practices, even though I couldn’t run.

I have been captain of my cross country and track and field team from 10th grade through 12th grade. In my 3 years of high school running so far I've qualified and competed in the state championship 3 times and the track and field state championship twice (cancelled 2020 due to covid)
